Send photos from your phone to a laptop

The usual ways of moving photos quietly shrink them. Chat apps compress images so they send faster, and the version that reaches your laptop has lost detail you can't get back.

BuddySend uploads the original file and hands back that same file, so what arrives is what your camera recorded.

How to do it

  1. On your phone, open buddysend.com in your browser.
  2. Tap the upload area and select your photos. Up to 5 photos, 100MB in total.
  3. Note the 6-digit code.
  4. On the laptop, open buddysend.com/receive, type the code, and download.

Why photos lose quality elsewhere

  • Chat apps resize and recompress images by default to save bandwidth.
  • Some email clients offer to shrink attachments to fit size limits.
  • Screenshots of photos, which people fall back on, throw away most of the detail.

A straight file transfer avoids all three, because nothing re-encodes the image on the way through.

Working with more than five photos

A transfer holds 5 files, 100MB in total, which suits a handful of shots rather than an afternoon's shooting. For a full camera roll, use a cable or a photo sync service. For the pictures you actually need right now, a code is faster.

FAQ

Does BuddySend compress my photos?

No. The file you download is the file you uploaded, byte for byte, so resolution and metadata are untouched.

Does this work with iPhone HEIC photos?

Yes. The file transfers as-is, so an HEIC photo arrives as HEIC. If your laptop can't open that format, change the iPhone camera setting to "Most Compatible" to shoot JPEG instead.

How many photos can I send at once?

Up to 5 files per transfer, 100MB in total. You can start another transfer straight after.

Can I send videos the same way?

Yes, as long as the total stays under 100MB. Phone video is large, so that is usually a short clip.

Do my photos stay on your server?

No. They are deleted after download, and expire about an hour after upload if nobody collects them.
