Send files from a PC to your phone
You need a document on your phone before you walk out of the door, and the cable is in the other room. Upload it on the computer, type the code on the phone, and it's in your downloads.
This works the same whether the phone is an iPhone or Android, and whether the two devices share a Wi-Fi network or not.
How to do it
- On your computer, open buddysend.com and drop the files onto the upload area. Up to 5 files, 100MB in total.
- Copy the 6-digit code that appears.
- On your phone, open buddysend.com/receive and type it in.
- Tap a file to download it to your phone.
If typing is awkward, send yourself the share link instead and tap it on the phone.
Good moments for this
- A boarding pass, ticket or PDF you want on your phone before leaving.
- A photo you edited on the computer and want to post from your phone.
- A document someone needs to read on the train.
- Moving a file onto a phone that isn't yours, without signing into anything on it.
What happens to the file
Transfers are short-lived on purpose. Files are deleted after they've been downloaded, and expire about an hour after upload if nobody collects them. Uploads and downloads travel over HTTPS, and file contents are never opened or scanned.
FAQ
Does this work with an iPhone?
Yes. Open the receive page in Safari and type the code; the file saves to your iPhone. Android works the same way in Chrome.
Do both devices need the same Wi-Fi?
No. The transfer goes over the internet, so the computer and the phone can be on completely different networks.
How big a file can I send?
Up to 5 files per transfer, 100MB in total.
Where does the file go on my phone?
Into your normal downloads folder, the same as any other file you download in the browser.
Do I need an account?
No. Sending and receiving are free, with no sign-up on either device.
Sending the other way? See send files from Android to a PC or from an iPhone to Windows.
Try it with your own file
