Send files between devices without an account

Most file sharing asks for something first: an email address, a sign-up, an app install, or both devices on the same Wi-Fi. For a one-off handover, that is more setup than the task deserves.

A short code removes all of it. One side uploads, the other types six numbers, and both sides walk away.

Any two devices

Because it runs in the browser, it doesn't matter what the two devices are:

  • Android phone to Windows PC
  • iPhone to a work laptop
  • Laptop to a tablet
  • One computer to another, anywhere in the world
  • Your phone to a friend's phone, standing next to you or not

There is no pairing step, no QR dance, and no requirement that the devices share a network.

How it works

  1. Open buddysend.com on the sending device and add your files. Up to 5 files, 100MB in total.
  2. You get a 6-digit code and a share link.
  3. Pass the code along: say it, text it, or send the link.
  4. The other side opens buddysend.com/receive, types the code, and downloads.

What "no account" really means here

  • Nothing to sign up for, on either side.
  • No email address needed from you or the recipient.
  • Nothing installed, so it works on a borrowed or locked-down computer.
  • No history to clean up, since files are deleted after download or about an hour after upload.

To prevent abuse, basic transfer details are recorded, including file names, sizes and IP addresses. That is in the privacy policy.

FAQ

Do both people need an account?

No. Neither the sender nor the receiver signs up for anything.

Does it work between different operating systems?

Yes. Any device with a modern browser works, so Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac and Linux all talk to each other.

Do the devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi?

No. Transfers go over the internet, unlike local-network tools that need both devices on one network.

What is the size limit?

Up to 5 files per transfer, 100MB in total.

Can I share code or text instead of a file?

Yes. BuddySend Code gives you a shared editor at a link, where both sides can edit in real time.
